Transport House, located at 102 High Street at the junction with Victoria Street, is a Grade B+ listed building that served as the headquarters of the Amalgamated Transport & General Workers’ Union (ATGWU).
Designed by J.J. Brennan in the International Style and completed in 1959, the building is clad in green glazed tiles and features a five-storey Constructivist mural depicting Northern Ireland’s industrial heritage.
In 2019, Unite the Union announced plans to bring the long vacant building back into use.
In December 2022, planning application LA04/2022/2266/F was submitted to restore and extend the structure while preserving its distinctive character. The application was approved in May 2024.
Refurbishment works commenced in January 2024 and by late June 2025, scaffolding began to come down, revealing the restored facade and new rooftop extension.
