Murray's Exchange, situated at the corner of Durham Street and Linfield Road, was originally constructed in 1900 to serve as an administration block for Murray's Tobacco business, and was designed by architects Watt and Tulloch. The building is Grade B+ listed.
Over the years, the building has underwent various phases of redevelopment, with the most recent refurbishment and extension occurring in 2011. This refurbishment, which received a RICS Award in 2012, preserves the listed elements while providing high-spec office spaces.
In August 2024, Dublin-based investment firm Elkstone announced its plans for a new 870-unit student accommodation development at Murray's Exchange. The proposal is expected to incorporate the existing listed building and office space into the development.
A public consultation is set to begin shortly, before the submission of a full planning application.
