Lagan pedestrian and cycle bridge

The Lagan Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge is a proposed 143-metre cable-stayed steel structure linking the Gasworks site to the Ormeau Embankment near the Ozone Leisure Centre. The bridge will be 5.0 metres wide between parapets, with dedicated ramps connecting to existing pedestrian and cycle routes. It is designed to enhance active travel and improve connectivity between south, east, and central Belfast.

Planning application LA04/2015/0405/F was submitted by the Department for Regional Development in May 2015 and approved in April 2016.

Construction is scheduled to commence in autumn 2025, pending final procurement and contractor appointment.
