Former Queen Street police station

Historical Building

The Former Queen Street police station in Belfast, served as a Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) station from 1933 to 2000. Prior to its role as a police station, the site was occupied by the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children from 1878 to 1932. The hospital, designed by Thomas Jackson & Son operated for 53 years until a new hospital on the Falls Road led to its closure in 1932. Following that, the Northern Ireland Ministry of Home Affairs purchased the property in 1933 and converted it into an RUC station until its decommissioning in 2000. The building was granted listed status in 1979.

After its decommissioning, the building remained abandoned and has been on the at risk register since 2006.

In recent years there have been plans for a 78 bedroom boutique hotel called "The Marquis Hotel".
