The former Homebase site at Galwally was a DIY and garden centre within the Drumkeen Complex, adjacent to Forestside Shopping Centre.
In late 2024, it was confirmed that Lidl had purchased the 1.7-hectare site for £7.5 million.
The store closed in February 2025, following the company’s entry into administration in November 2024.
In April 2025, Lidl submitted Proposal of Application Notice LA05/2025/0247/PAN for the site. The proposal includes demolition of the existing retail warehouse and construction of a discount foodstore, a leisure-use building, a drive-through café, and a drive-through restaurant. The scheme also includes associated parking, landscaping, and site works.
