Belfast Central Library

Education

Belfast Central Library, located on Royal Avenue, is a historic public library that opened its doors in 1888. The building was designed by William Henry Lynn, who won a competition for its design in 1883.

The library's architectural style reflects the aspirations of Belfast during the Victorian era. It features a red sandstone exterior, sitting on a black granite base. The three-floor interior boasts a sweeping staircase, a pillared foyer, and a domed first-floor reading room.
