Bank of Ireland Building

Historical Building

Located on the corner of North Street and Royal Avenue, the former Bank of Ireland building is an excellent example of art deco architecture. Designed by Joseph Vincent Downes, the Grade B+ building was built between 1929 and 1930.

In 2021, Belfast City Council acquired the landmark building, along with the accompanying 4,000 square metre site. This acquisition paves the way for the development of "Belfast Stories", a £100 million tourism project that will tell the stories of the city. The project is expected to complete in 2028.
